A Christmas Without Snow — But Full of Warmth

When many people think of Christmas, they imagine cold weather, thick coats, and warm fires. In Australia, Christmas feels very different — it arrives in the middle of summer.

Our principal grew up in Australia, where December means sunshine, school holidays, and long days outdoors. Christmas there is often spent at the beach, in the backyard, or around a big table filled with food. Families enjoy barbecues, fresh seafood, fruit, and cold drinks instead of heavy winter meals. Santa might even show up in shorts.

But even though the weather looks different, the heart of Christmas stays the same.

It is a time to slow down.
A time to sit together, laugh together, and enjoy a good meal.
A time to put busy schedules aside and truly be present with the people we love.

At Harland, we believe this spirit matters for both children and parents. Learning is important, but so is rest. Growth happens when children feel safe, cared for, and connected. Christmas is a gentle reminder that moments shared with family — talking, eating, and simply being together — are just as meaningful as anything learned in a classroom.

As this year comes to an end, we hope every family can take a moment to pause. Enjoy some good food. Share stories. Give a hug. Make memories, whether under summer sunshine or winter skies.

Because Christmas isn’t about the weather — it’s about love, warmth, and time together. 🎄✨
